SINGAPORE'S FIRST KIDS RUN ATTRACTS FULL HOUSE
Singapore, 1 June - The Cold Storage Kids Run, Singapore's first run exclusively
for children, made an impressive debut at The Padang with a full house participation
capacity of 3,000 kids racing down the Marina Bay precinct on Sunday.
Everyone wins in the Cold Storage Kids Run. Every participant receives a medal after
crossing the finishing line. It's a wholesome and healthy activity for the kids
and their families who can cheer them on.
Comprising both competitive and non-competitive categories with a maximum 1.4-kilometre
distance, the run targets children age 3 to 12 years old.

Best Retail Concept Of The Year 2008- Singapore Retailers
Association Award
Paragon Market Place won the Best Retail Concept of the Year. An award for the most
outstanding retail concept that was judged based on the creativity and uniqueness
of the store, with the ability to engage customers through the various aesthetic
elements in-store.

Cold Storage Group launched 'Wok of Life - Bringing People Together' in conjunction
with Central Singapore Community Development Council to promote social integration
and harmonious living in multi-cultural Singapore. This community project was also
launched in line with The Orange Ribbon Celebrations 2007 to encourage greater interaction
and understanding across cultures and build deeper community bonds.
2006
Cold Storage unveils new grocery shopping concept at Great World City. More than
$3million was invested in refurbishing the store with a new lifestyle shopping concept.
Self check-out systems is introduced at this store, a first in Singapore, enabling
customers to "Scan, Pay & Go". Termed as the "smart way to shop", it involves
3 simple steps for customers to scan their products and pay through various modes
of payment, all without the assistance of a cashier.
Equipped with self-scanning technology and taking into consideration human ergonomics
in its design, the Scan. Pay. Go machines will bring greater convenience and time-saving
for Cold Storage's busy customers.
'Our Family & Yours - In Wellness Together' was launched by The Cold Storage
Group in conjunction with the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports
(MCYS) to provide a safe and secure shopping environment for families, offering
thoughtful service and making visits more fun and rewarding for families.
The Cold Storage Group is amongst the pioneer batch of business to take the Pro-Family
pledge awarded by MCYS and aims to share experiences to encourage more businesses
to have practices that will help with intergenerational bonding within families.
2005
'Live to Learn Back to Work' community project with WDA (Workforce Development Agency)
and South West CDC was launched by The Cold Storage Group to encourage continuous
lifelong learning.
The community project promotes the importance of lifelong learning and skills upgrading
to stay employable and competitive. The first Retail Reality Challenge "Youre Hired"
organised by leading retailer the Cold Storage Group was aimed at promoting retail
as an attractive career choice and to create awareness on the importance of lifelong
learning.
The winners walked away with management jobs with The Group, scholarships and cash.
2004
Dairy Farm Singapore won Top Retailer 2004 Singapore Gold Award and Top Retailer
2004 Asia-Pacific 'Best of the Best' by Retail Asia. Awarded by SRA (Singapore Retailers
Association) for the Best Retail Event of the Year, The Cold Storage Group Centenary
Celebration by Community of Hearts, a community project by The Group Storage Group
was launched to communicate the elements of community, togetherness and charity.
The projects aims to encourage individuals to offer a helping hand to others and
through this gesture bring together the whole community to care as one.
In conjunction with the community project, "One Deed, One Lifetime" (ODOL), a community
campaign was sponsored by The Cold Storage Group and linked up with Central Singapore
CDC. The project is organised by Channel News Asia. Aimed to inspire Singaporeans
to do at least a good deeds for others.
2003
Dairy Farm Singapore acquired 35 Shop N Save stores from QAF and Belgian retailer
Delhaize. With the acquisition, Cold Storage grew a total of 75 supermarkets. making
it the largest supermarket chain.
Cold Storage was awarded Food Safety Partnership launched for the first time in
Singapore by AVA, Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority. The partnership serves as
a platfom to give recognition to food manufacturers, importers and supermarkets,
which have commendable food safety assurance and food safety consumer education
efforts in Singapore.
2002
The We Brighten Up Your Day campaign was organized and involved over 5,200 Dairy
Farm Singapore team members across more than 330 retail stores islandwide, and helped
to create a working environment that is warm, sincere and helpful.
2001
Cold Storage followed up on the success of its hypermarket concept with another
Giant store at Turf City, Bukit Timah.
GValue, a new no-frills format store, was introduced at various public housing estates.
They incorporated the wet market concept and offered more local and Asian products.
Guinness Book of Records history was made with the Companys charity event themed
We Are Family, organized with Care Community Services Society. Tea was served to
7,121 people, and $145,000 was raised for the needy.
2000
The Company signed the lease to set up supermarkets in spaces vacated by Sogo supermarket
at Paragon and Raffles City.
Giant Hypermarket, a one-stop shopping destination, was opened at IMM to popular
acclaim.
1999
Cold Storage acquired seven TOPS outlets in Singapore from Royal Ahold.
The Company became the first supermarket retailer to open a Fresh Food Distribution
Centre, thus ensuring the safe handling and freshness of perishable items.
1997
Cold Storage pioneered online supermarket shopping with the launch of www.coldstorage.com.sg

Cold Storage launched its Triple Guarantee of Price Integrity, Quality and Freshness,
Shop with Confidence and Scanning Integrity Guarantee, assuring customers of improved

Dairy Farm International acquired Cold Storage Supermarkets, Guardian Pharmacy,
7-Eleven and Photo Finish kiosks in Singapore.
Cold Storage introduced its innovative Customer Equity Price Inquiry Counter which
allowed customers to scan and check the prices of items they wish to purchase.
1992
Bar codes and scanning system were introduced at all Cold Storage supermarket branches,
replacing the basic cash registers.
Cold Storage opened its first heartland store at Northpoint in Yishun, which became
very popular with residents.
1989
Cold Storage took over the 7-Eleven franchise from Jardine Matheson Holdings.
1987
The national song, We Are Singapore, sponsored by Cold Storage, was launched to
celebrate Singapores 22nd birthday.
1985
Fitzpatricks chain of supermarkets was acquired by Cold Storage.
1983
Centrepoint Shopping Centre, its first major property development, was opened for
business.
1982
The Company was re-registered as a public limited company known as Cold Storage
Holdings PLC.
1978
Cold Storage celebrated its 75 years of existence with the slogan After 75 years,
theres a little bit of Cold Storage in all of us.
1972
Orchard Road Cold Storage created Singapores first walk-around, self-service pharmacy.
1969
Cold Storage pioneered butter manufacturing at the Magnolia Dairies complex in Bukit
Timah. A soya bean drink as well as the Magnolia Milk Bar was also introduced and
well received.
1959
The concept of self-service and supermarket was officially introduced and used in
all Cold Storage stores.
1953
Cold Storage celebrated its Golden Jubilee. By now, it had a chain of 19 stores
in Singapore and Malaya.
1945
After the war, Cold Storages ice factories resumed production and full business
operations were resumed at the end of 1946.
1937
A subsidiary company, Cold Storage Creameries Limited, was formed in association
with San Miguel of the Philippines and Magnolia brand ice-cream was introduced.
1935
Cold Storage started its delivery system to all residential districts, starting
as early as 6.30am.
1932
Cold Storage became one of the founding members of the Singapore Manufacturers Association.
1930
Cold Storage entered the bakery business when it acquired the Royal Bakery in Singapore.
1929
A 60-acre stretch of forested land along Upper Bukit Timah was purchased by Cold
Storage and became the companys dairy farm.
1909
Cold Storage established in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Over the next few years, more
stores were in Ipoh, Klang, Penang, Taiping and Telok Anson.
1905
The first consignment of frozen meats, fresh butter and milk arrived on the S.S.Guthrie
of the Burns Philip Line. A retail depot at Orchard Road and Borneo Wharf opened
for business.
1903
Singapore Cold Storage Company Limited was registered in Singapore. It was formed
for the purpose of providing cold storage, and carrying on the business of storing
and distributing frozen beef, mutton, lamb, game, fresh butter, fruit and other
Australian food supplies and products.
