This fun-filled event saw an attendance of almost 15,000 family, friends and supporters enjoying all the activities race day had to offer.

The Guest of Honour for the event was Minister of State, Halimah Yacob, Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports. The Guest of Honour also flagged-off the Boogey Blue Dash category.

The run was tailored into several race categories ranging from 800m to 1.6km for the kids and families to compete in. Ages ranged from six months to 12 years. This year, Cold Storage Kids Run introduced a new competitive category for children to encourage sportsmanship and challenged them to be “faster, higher and stronger”.

Children and adult participants were asked to recycle their event flyers by making origami apples which were then dropped into a collection box. Kids also had the opportunity to paste some of their origami apples on a ‘tree’ to show their support.

For every 1,000 pieces collected, 1 tree will be donated on behalf of Cold Storage Kids Run to the Plant-a-Tree Programme by the City Garden Fund. In total, more than 10,000 apples were collected. The tree planting activity was held at the Fort Canning Park on 2 June 2012.
